Following on from our last article, we continue to explore
the genetics behind horse coat colours. In this issue we look at Tobiano
and Overo patterns and what colours can be produced.

Plaiting the Heavy Horse:
The method of plaiting manes and tails of the main Heavy Horse breeds
varies greatly and it is important to get them correct when showing
your model. We look at the different plaits for the Clydesdale, Shire,
Suffolk Punch and Percheron breeds.
Breed Profiles: European Heavy Horses:
We look at 10 Heavy Horse breeds that all originate from Europe, including
the Jutland, Italian Heavy Draught and Black Forest Horse.
Showing the Heavy Horse:
In a "real horse show", there are separate classes
for the Heavy breeds. In the model world however this is generally is
a rarity with many breeds competition alongside one another. Whilst
this is acceptable, it is crucial that you show your breed according
to its own breed standards. In this article we look at what tack you
would need for each breed- Shire, Clydesdale, Suffolk Punch and Percheron
and for each sex. A great article for both model horse exhibitors and
judges!!

be shown as what breed.
